Who will see my child?

A Speech and Language Therapist who is highly skilled and experienced in the field of hearing impairment.

What will happen

When your child starts Jordanstown Schools we will ask you for permission to assess your child's communication needs. Following this we will ask you to visit the school to talk with us. If we decide that your child needs Speech and Language Therapy we can discuss the most appropriate way of providing this. (In some cases a waiting list for therapy may exist.)

The aim of this Specialist Service is to establish effective communication through:

Speech Specialist computer equipment may be used to help your child's communication potential.

Speech and Language Therapists work together with parents, carers, houseparents, teachers and class-room assistants to help achieve the best communication skills for each child using the Total Communication approach.

Your child may be seen for Speech and Language Therapy individually, in a small group or in the classroom with teaching staff.
