Sensory Learning Support
Who are we?
Sensory Learning Support is a specially qualified team working throughout Northern Ireland to give help and support to people with sight, hearing and communication difficulties.
Whom do we help
People who have sensory impairment and who may experience some of the following:
- Working to achieve National Vocational Qualifications, (NVQ's).
- Trying to hear and understand what is being said.
- Trying to make themselves understood by others.
- Difficulties in understanding information and advice when making a decision about a suitable career.
- Trying to see and understand the details of information sheets and practical demonstrations.
What do we do?
- We support the guidance given by Special Needs Careers Advisors (SNCAs).
- We liaise with Parents, Educationalists, Department of Employment and Learning Staff, Training Organisations and Employers.
- We provide learning support for N.V.Q's and other qualifications.
- We provide communication support.
- We advise, where necessary, on the provision of special aids.
- We support the person and their employer in work placement and/or employment.
- We visit each person according to their individual needs.
- We provide support in the preparation for job interviews and, if necessary, will accompany the person to the interview.
